A menage is another word for an arena, ring or an area where you work your horse, it can be covered or open. Where you see horses doing dressage that is a menage :D

I think you may have mixed up menage for dressage. Dressage is the riding discipline and menage is the arena. :)

Great dissertation. As far as what you plan on doing in the ring. If you are riding barrels probably a quarter or mustang.
If you are looking for pure show then maybe a walking/racking or saddlebred.
If you are looking for combination rider and horse judgement then I haven't a clue as I have never ridden Dressage.

Well if u want to do dressage then probably a TB, Trakhener, Holstein, Oldenburg, hanoverian, swedish warmblood etc.

Great followup and I think it provides an absolute ton of information. I have heard of several of these and then others I haven't heard of. The hanoverian is supposedly an absolute joy to ride.

You're seeing a lot more Hanoverians here in the US. Sometimes things just take a few centuries to catch up. I agree, they are a dream to ride!

I'm not very familiar with them. I've heard of course. Are they warm-blooded?

Yes they are warm blooded, they are imported a lot for the hunters and jumpers as they are a very pretty well put together horse.
In Europe they are used a lot for dressage, eventing and show jumping..they are like all the warmblood sport horses, very atheletic and very versatile...if they werent so darn expensive I would have one any day over any other breed :)
