Several years ago I came across a saddle type in a magazine that was described as being a cross between western and english. I think I remember that it was designed for western riding, but offered some comfort benefits of an english saddle. I do remember there being a sort of "mock" horn. I can't remember what the name of this saddle was, and have been unable to produce results after extensive online searching. If there is anyone that can shed light on this subject, it would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance! :)

Maybe it was a custom-designed saddle? There are a few places I've heard of that design saddles for horses with broader backs (and the riders than need those bare-back saddles but still want the comfort and balance of a western). Do you remember where you originally saw it?

it sounds to me like you may be referring to an austrailian saddle. they look kinda like a cross between english and western, and come with or without the horn.

There are several different saddle types that you could be referring too. One of them is of course the australian saddle. This saddle is very similar to an english saddle except that it will generally have a place to hook your knee's into. There also is typically not a pommel present.
There are also endurance saddles that many are starting to ride. Especially on long trail rides. These saddles are designed for horse and rider comfort not just for roping or steer gathering.

Why is that, everything that I have heard is the Cross Breed Saddle is a really nice riding saddle.
Is there something wrong with the way it sits or with the way it rides on the horses back?
