What type of items do you use for hoof care. I personally keep a pick for cleaning out around the bottom and also have my farrior scheduled for a once every two month visit for trimming and re-shoeing.

I have a pick and brush, and was thinking about doing some hoof dressing in the spring- either Corona's or Horseshoer's Best. I also feed a supplement that strengthens his joints, hooves, and makes his coat shiny.
He's bare right now, but I plan on talking to the farrier when he visits about his opinion on shoeing him.

When asking your farrier about their opinion, always be wary that they may just have picked it up and doing what they think's best. Look into:

It'll give you some advice . . . slanted towards shoeing probably. But still good info.
