Have any of you noticed the prices of horses falling. My sister had 8 horses, all racking horses and she sold two of hers for $200.00 a piece. The were both broken and in excellent shape.

Those were cheap horses.
In new zealand the prices are huge
for a 14.2hh pony thats still green you can pay up to 7,000$
a horse that show jumps 1.20m you can pay up to 40-60,000$

$200? I have never heard of horses going for such low prices!

Were the orignal owners not able to keep up with feeding and caring for them? If they sold for $200 the owners must have been in some kind of financial scrap. If so, I applaud them for keeping them from being injured.

Also, I have seen a slight drop due to higher price of upkeep. I cringe everytime I have to buy feed, or take care of the pasture. It's a double whammey having to pay for gas to get there!

I think that if the prices for upkeep keep skyrocketing, you're going to have a lot of owners parting company. It's a simple rule of economics. If there are more horses for sale, the price will plummet. I guess this is all geographically driven.

I hope they start falling about here! I have two younger siblings waiting for theirs! What areas of the US are being affected?
