best riding style

What qualifies as Western riding style? What is the best way for one to learn?

I understand that English style is what most would most easily recognize and prefer but I think maybe you and Iare out of our leagues. Perhaps some of the more qualified experts on the site can help us out.

I always classified riding three way: western, English and bareback. Usually growing up I chose bareback. Too little to get the saddle tight enough and I like the freedom of just jumping on when I could.
