what are some general signs of foaling you look for. not the graphic stuff but things like restlessness and attitude. my mare is getting weird and cranky. then again i was when i was expecting. ha ha

there are many signs that do get pretty graphic so you may want to buy a book and read up on that subject. look for waxing or milk drips. pacing and restlessness are sure signs as well. i would be interested to hear other unusual "signs"

along these same lines, you may want to start a thread on this topic. you'll need to start gathering lots of supplies for this event if you plan to do it all on your own. lots of prep involved in the stall also

I've always patiently waited for waxing. It'll happen soon after that in my experience. 12 - 36 hours. Hopefully too much colostrum won't leak before it's needed.

With mine I've seen that go for about a week and one not at all. I've had better predicting watching (pardon me) the vulva start to swell. It's got to get started before the stretching starts or she's in for trouble.
