Seems lately I'm helping my daughter with homework more and more. I don't remember my parents helping me this much. I also didn't have the projects they have now. There is no way she can compete with everyone with out some guidance. How much should we be really helping and when should we back off?

I feel it is practically expected at our school. Parents must sign assignment folder everyday and sign project forms. This lets the teachers know we know it is due and in a way I feel responsible. My kid can't do most of this on her own. I need to help her at the library and esp. on the internet.

I don't know about y'all but my kids can't drive. Someone needs to drive them to the library and craft store and buy supplies. That is surely parent involvement. I help alot but don't do it for them. Just try to give them the tools that will help them do it on their own more and more.

I'm not a fan of homework but i realize it is a necessary evil.. WHat i hate is so much of it on the weekends. Even most working folks get a day off once in a while. Hard to plan family events when there is so much to be done. trying to support them and strenghten the family at the same time.

I think it is over the top and ridiculous that there's so much busy work, like coloring pages in the 4th grade. The teachers have wonderful ideas for extra projects, but they need to be limited to one or two, not TEN! More should be done to let the kids have a positive, happy memory of school . . . not that they became pastey white that year because no play was allowed outside after school because of their "work load".

I've comtemplated home schooling. I think they'd miss the social side of life though. In many cases though, I can't see that as a negative!

Would absolutely like to make the teachers do the same work at home. I feel like I am a concerned parent, but GEEZ. At some point, the teachers are just going to have to face the fact that the children's school day is over at the finishing bell . . . not 9:30 (or later) at night!

Necessary, but don't overdo it. My child wants to run wild and relaz and be creative climbing trees hiding from the other secret agents when he gets out of school. I still like being able to spend fun time with them and climb the trees too. I didn't sign up to be a teacher. God love them and with great thanks!
