curious to see what farrier prices are around the country. How much for a trim? How much for shoes? Does the price include a farm call or is that part of the price quoted??

we are in GA. We have a few farriers we've used. Pay between $25-$30 for a trim. Pay between $80-$95 for shoeing. plus farm call.

let's not forget our obligations to the farrier. they travel to our farms/stables, and deal with us and our sweet and the unruly horses. It's a hard living. We need to give them a work area that is safe, clean, level and well lighted. We should help them when we can.

good points about the farriers. We forget that sometimes and concentrate on just the price of shoeing. I always try to have someone there to meet the farrier if I am at work. And never make the farrier go to pasture to round up your horse. I try to prepare as best I can.

We usually schedule shoeing first thing in the morning so we are there and get to work afterwards. I make sure they are fed and let out to exercise. It's harder to work on a hungry, anxious horse..

I live in Wisconsin. My trainer trims my horse. He charges $25-$30 per trim.

I appreciate the etiquette tips. I try to be a thoughtful person and I've always had someone who was most obliging and nice. Good tips . . . I'll make it even better for him next time.
