It's getting time to have Hoover's first bath with me. I have no idea his history. I did hose him down after the vets in the fall, but he was still sedated and fairly goofy. Tips are appreciated for making this a good experience for him.

So far, I have:
-A nice natural sponge
-Oster Berry All Purpose Shampoo
-BestShot Conditioner and Detangling Spray
-A soft hemp scrubber and a harder rubber scrubber
-An assorted bunch of grooming tools, brushes, combs, and a pick

One of my major concerns is the lack of hot water at my ranch. What temperature should the day be to make sure he doesn't get chilled?

I don't want to sound harsh. It's always been my experience that as long as it's a nice warm day with plenty of sunshine and no wind, hot water is just pure luxury. I can't recall one of our horses ever getting antsy with regular tap water. Be a little more conscious of the weather if you're on well water though. BRRRR!

Oh, you're not harsh, Cath. I'm just a first horse mom and worry about everything. :D
