I keep looking at my quarterhorse and think she's a bit too heavy. How do you know for sure. Should I just start exercising her more? Do I need to really check with the vet?

I've always been taught to feel their middle rib cage. If you can't feel them at all, whoa nellie, exercise her more. If they show, you're working her too hard.

Just like a human, before you change up diet or radically alter exercise patterns, call the vet to just be safe. Hey, you said female, she couldn't be pregnant, could she?

I was thinking the same thing. Is it possible you have yourself a new edition coming soon. I've seen this happen before! It was a big surprise then too!

Not unless it was immaculate conception! Good advice on the ribs. Also, I will get her checked out.
