Default Hooves.... help!!

I'm looking at a horse to buy. He's an Irish Sports Horse, 5yrs old, 16.1hh and he's lovely! The problem is his front feet are different sizes(the owner pointed this out to me and has been totally honest about it) He has shoes with quarters on and he gets his feet sorted every 6 weeks. He has been shown and has always been placed. I'm concerned as all books say that this is a bad thing and will cause prblems in the future. Should I discount this horse?
